Learn to self-regulate brain function with a board-certified Neurofeedback Therapist.
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States. Neurofeedback brain training, a natural way to address the underlying causes of anxiety, is a promising new therapy for mental illness.
Dysfunctional brain activity is at the core of many cognitive, emotional, and behavioral issues. It makes sense to address these concerns at their source: the brain. Neurofeedback can help address problems and improve cognitive function, reducing symptoms of poor mental health.
Observing brain function helps to identify the root cause of mental health issues. Our Light Lounge Neurofeedback Therapist will help train your brain to create new pathways, improving emotional regulation and preventing the mind from entering heightened emotional states.
The first step in brain mapping involves a Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG). This noninvasive procedure uses electrodes to measure the electrical activity in the brain and identify how different areas respond to stimuli. People with certain mental illnesses or a history of trauma often experience over- or under-activity in regions of the brain responsible for regulating emotional responses. This data helps our team develop personalized treatment plans and kick-start the healing process.
To get real-time results, clients will engage with games, movies, music, or other media while their brain is being mapped. The Neurofeedback Therapist will analyze the brain’s responses and inform the client of the electrical patterns observed. To change the pathways of the brain, the Neurofeedback Therapist guides the client through alternative thought processes in response to external stimuli.
Over time, the difference in brain activity in response to the stimuli will begin to change, and it will be apparent that the mind's function is changing in alignment with the client’s goals. The best part is that once your brain practices these healthy patterns and responses enough, lasting change occurs! And once your brain activity operates in optimal patterns, all areas of life improve.
Kristin Mazzarese is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Neurofeedback Therapist (BCN) with over a decade of experience helping individuals regulate brain activity to reduce anxiety, improve focus, and support emotional resilience. With a Master’s degree in Counseling and advanced training in QEEG brain mapping, Kristin brings a unique blend of scientific insight and compassionate care to her practice, the Colorado Center for Neurofeedback.
Her work is rooted in the belief that many of the challenges people face can be traced back to irregular patterns in brain function. By identifying those patterns through advanced brain mapping and retraining them with neurofeedback, Kristin helps clients restore balance, build resilience, and live with greater clarity and calm.
Kristin, and all the other therapists at Colorado Center for Neurofeedback, are passionate about creating personalized, data-driven programs that teach the brain to function more optimally.
